Originally this area housed the countless pipes, cables and service equipment needed for the radio transmitters above!
Today it houses thousands of fish from over 100 different species, across almost 40 small displays. Unlike many Aquariums who focus on saltwater species, we concentrate predominantly on the smaller freshwater species. In particular, we’re proud to specialise in Mexican Goodeids, a key focus of our conservation work. Our Aquarium is home to one of the largest breeding collections of these remarkable little fish anywhere in the world, supported by both our on-display tanks and dedicated off-display breeding facilities. This unique combination allows visitors to see conservation in action while learning about the vital role freshwater habitats play in our planet’s ecosystem.
